Outside of school, I enjoy keeping active and playing football, as well as relaxing with a good book. When I was younger, I was a keen runner, and one of my biggest personal challenges was completing a half marathon! More recently, I have taken up learning to play the guitar, so I am enjoying the challenge of developing a new skill. I also love travelling and exploring new places, but I particularly enjoy spending time outdoors in Cornwall, especially visiting the beautiful beaches and making the most of the coast.

I qualified as a teacher in 1996 and my first job was at Stithians. From 1997, I worked at Weeth School in Camborne and destiny called and I returned to Stithians in 2005. I have a real passion for teaching and inclusive education for all. I love all things historical, and love all types of music. I firmly believe that relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Having worked under five headteachers at Stithians, and served as Deputy Headteacher under four of them, I have developed a deep appreciation of the importance of trust, teamwork and community in creating a school where every child can flourish.

I began my class teaching career in Cornwall at Devoran school before working as headteacher for 11 years at Gwinear. I am now really enjoying this supporting role at Stithians; it is a wonderful community.  Before teaching I worked as a riding instructor and then as an outdoor instructor, leading children into the mountains in the Lake District.  I love music of most genres and always fit a few gigs or festivals in over the year.  However, I am also still drawn by the call of the wild and as a keen backpacker I have hiked many long distance paths around the world.   Whether in the classroom or outside, teaching children is a joy and a privilege and a two way process.  I am grateful for all that the job has given me and for all that the children I have taught have taught me.

I have lived in Stithians all my life and attended Stithians School. My three boys also came here and have gone on to shine in their chosen careers. In 2006, I became a teaching assistant and am now the senior secretary. I enjoy walking my cockapoo, Junket, and joining in with family 4 x 4 off road adventures!
